Walmart has appointed Jamie Iannone as its new chief operating officer of Walmart e-commerce in its latest executive shuffle. Iannone, who joined Walmart in 2014, was the CEO of SamsClub.com and executive vice president of membership and technology.

In his new role, Iannone focuses on operational oversight of e-commerce and also has responsibility for Walmart’s incubation hub Store No. 8. He reports to Walmart U.S. e-commerce chief Marc Lore and John Furner, CEO of Walmart U.S.

Walmart credits Iannone with growing both the SamsClub.com business and Sam’s Club’s membership base, which ended FY20 with record-high e-commerce growth and Plus renewal counts. His teams also released several retail technologies including Scan & Go, Ask Sam’s, Sam’s Club Now and Club Pickup.

Prior to Walmart, Iannone was executive vice president of digital products at Barnes & Noble, where he was responsible for all NOOK devices, software, accessories and retail integration and experiences; books and digital content; and third-party partnerships. He also spent eight years at eBay as a vice president leading several areas of the company, including its global search, buyer experience and tailored shopping experience divisions.

Walmart also recently appointed Dacona Smith, COO of Sam’s Club, as chief operating officer of Walmart U.S. and discontinued its text-based, personal-shopping service Jet black.
