Walmart Names Latriece Watkins Chief Merchandising Officer, Replacing Charles Redfield
Walmart’s U.S. merchandising officer Charles Redfield stepped down this past month according to an internal memo from the company, and now the supercenter has named a successor: Latriece Watkins.
Watkins has been with Walmart for over two decades. She began her journey with the company within the snacking and beverage segment before moving into strategy, operations, and merchandising. Most recently, she was executive vice president, a role she continues to take on in an expanded capacity with her new merchandising responsibilities.
She has held key leadership roles within Sam’s Club, Walmart U.S. merchandising, human resources, and U.S. store operations, leading significant portfolio and strategic initiatives across the company.
CEO John Furner announced the news in a company letter, also sharing his thoughts on LinkedIn:
Redfield had been in the role for just over a year and moved to an advisory role supporting Walmart’s U.S. business on May 1.
According to Furner’s memo, Redfield played a major role in lowering product prices amid high inflation by working with suppliers. Redfield has been with the company for 32 years, beginning his career as a cashier at Sam’s Club and having led the U.S. food and grocery business for Walmart before taking on the current position.
