Walgreens is extending Postmates’ on-demand delivery service to an additional 13 cities.

The retailer first piloted the service, which brings its health and wellness, convenience items and select over-the-counter medications directly to consumers, at select New York City locations last year.

It will now be offered through more than 1,700 participating Walgreens stores in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Washington DC, Chicago, Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Houston and Portland, OR.

"Convenience is becoming increasingly important to our shoppers. They are looking to retailers, like Walgreens, to help them save time in their busy lives," said Stefanie Kruse, Walgreens vice president, digital commerce and omnichannel. "It's all about getting customers what they need, when and where is most convenient for them.”

Consumers who sign up for the $9.99/month Postmates Unlimited membership fee aren’t charged a delivery fee. The company is also offering offering a one-time free delivery through March 15 to mark the occasion.
