WHP Global, the parent company of Toys"R"Us, is set to open its first airport store in Dallas-Fort Worth.

The retailer will partner with travel retailer Duty Free Americas to spearhead the new 500-square-foot store development, which is slated to arrive at DFW’s Terminal A in time for the 2023 holiday season. Targeted at traveling families with children, the store is set to feature a life-size sculpture of Toys “R” Us mascot, Geoffrey the Giraffe, display and demonstration tables, and curated gift ideas.

We are thrilled to partner with Duty Free Americas to introduce the first-ever Toys"R"Us airport store, an exciting new concept that we believe could roll out in airports around the world,” said Yehuda Shmidman, chairman and CEO of WHP Global.

While the children’s specialty retailer technically shuttered all stores in 2018, they were acquired by New York-based acquisition and management firm WHP Global in 2021. Since then, Toys “R” Us has made a few appearances, spurred by WHP Global’s efforts to revitalize and reinstate the beloved brand’s place in the U.S. retail landscape.

In
July last year, the retailer revealed it would be partnering with Macy’s to roll out a number of in-store Toys “R” Us shops in around 400 of the brand’s department stores – including in Atlanta, Chicago, Honolulu, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, and San Francisco. These plans will continue to expand this year, with the company planning roll outs of stores in India, United Kingdom, and Mexico.
