RIS has its eye on the horizon. This month’s issue is packed with forward-facing content, designed to give our readers a glimpse of what the retail landscape of tomorrow will look like.

Of course in an industry as fast moving as retail the future is never far off and many of the cutting-edge strategies and technologies explored in this edition of RIS are already being tested and implemented by the industry’s most innovative retailers.

Here is a quick look at some of the insights contained in our August issue.

Retail 2025. It is difficult enough to predict what the next year will bring, let alone the next six. But RIS is giving it a shot. We polled more than 5,000 consumers on their current shopping habits, compared it to historical data, mixed in a little of our secret sauce and came up with seven shopper trends that we believe will define retail in 2025. Will our prophesies ring true? Only time will tell. Check out or prediction and let us know if you agree. We would love to hear from you.

POS of the Future. Our annual special report on the future of the point of sale explores the ongoing evolution of the POS from its transactional roots to a customer experience hub. Modern POS platforms interact and integrate with every key retail system providing shoppers with an immersive experience in-store and out. The report examines the latest must-have POS enhancements and provides real-world examples from cutting-edge retailers leveraging the point of sale to its utmost potential.

Brick-and-Mortar AI. When it comes to future retailing, it doesn’t get any more leading-edge than machine learning and artificial intelligence. This Targeted Research report explores the growing role of AI and machine learning in brick-and-mortar stores, and how prepared retailers are to capitalize on the next-gen tech. While AI is clearly the future, that future looks a little ways off. Just 17% of those surveyed said their in-store networks are prepared to handle AI, IoT, and their future demands for
speed and reliability.

Top 100 Retailers. Dreaming of the future is one thing, but having the ability and power to turn that vision into reality is something else entirely. In this issue, we unveil RIS’ first-ever Top 100 Retailers report which ranks retail’s elite on their share of the overall retail market. These retailers are the who’s who of the retail landscape and the ones with the experience and most importantly the resources to build the retail enterprise of tomorrow.
