RTR Drop-Off allows customers to return rented items within a few seconds.

Nordstrom and Rent the Runway are teaming up to draw foot traffic into the department store while making Rent the Runway’s digital rental service more convenient.

Four Los Angeles-based Nordstrom stores are adding Rent the Runway “drop-off boxes,” where subscribers can scan and return rented items from the retailer, Reuters reports.

Three of the four stores will be Nordstrom Local shops, Nordstrom’s inventory-less store concept. The smaller neighborhood hub stores are likely a good fit for Rent the Runway, in that they’re already service oriented. For example, customers can access Nordstrom services, such as personal stylists who can transfer merchandise in for customers. Shoppers can also get alterations, manicures, and pickup online orders.

Maureen Sullivan, chief operating officer at Rent the Runway, said she expects the partnership to improve customer loyalty and ultimately help the company grab more market share, Reuters reports.

Los Angeles is Rent the Runway’s fourth largest market, where there is a “particularly high density of subscribers living or working close to the Nordstrom Locals in West Hollywood, Brentwood and Downtown LA,” the clothing rental company said.
