Lamps Plus Re-Opens Trio of Stores in Texas

Lamps Plus is re-opening all three of its stores in Texas with new safety measures in place.

The retailer operates a total of 36 stores in the U.S., and these three will be the first to re-open after shuttering all doors in March to help slow the spread of the coronavirus. The stores, located in Arlington, Plano and Austin, will only operate at 25% capacity in accordance with Texas regulations.

The company is also implementing new contactless curbside pick-up. Customers can purchase their items via credit card over the phone prior to picking up their order; when they arrive, they can call or text the store, and an employee will verify identity, payment receipt and place the order in the vehicle.

“We’re re-opening our Texas stores based on guidance from local governments and with numerous significant new measures to protect both store associates and customers,” said Dennis Swanson, founder and CEO. “In doing so, we’ve implemented an abundance of new safety standards in each store to make the shopping experience as safe as possible during the pandemic. We are also keeping a watchful eye on these stores; listening to feedback from customers and associates; and following guidance from local governments and health officials to maintain the health of all.”

Other new safety measures include masks and gloves for employees, Plexiglass installed in the cash register area, and signage promoting social distancing. Customers will be encouraged to wear masks.

Stores will operate under new hours of 10am-6pm Monday through Saturday, and 11am - 6pm on Sunday.

“Our shopping experience can be primarily contactless as customers browse our stores and get help from a salesperson. We’re eliminating contact where possible,” said Terre Wellington, senior vice president of store operations. “We’re optimistic about re-opening our three Texas stores with these new safety practices. We’re naturally hoping our additional stores throughout the western U.S. will soon follow when it’s deemed safe in those locations.”
