Lowe’s already had an open-pet policy at its stores, so why not welcome furry companions with their own shopping section?

Petco and Lowe’s are working together to bring a store-in-store experience to life that will allow homeowners to continue accessing products and services for home repair and renovation, while also grabbing their must-have items for their beloved pets.

Launching with a pilot store at Lowe's Alamo Ranch in Texas in early February, the companies expect Lowe's + Petco to expand to 14 additional Lowe's locations in Texas, North Carolina, and South Carolina by the end of March 2022.

Lowe's + Petco will offer:

  • STAINMASTER PetProtect® carpet, dog beds, dog doors and cleaning supplies
  • Petco-branded products: WholeHearted, EveryYay, Youly, Leaps & Bounds, and So Phresh
  • Health and wellness services
  • Vetco vaccination clinics, microchipping, prescription pest prevention, and mobile grooming (select locations)

Products can be purchased in store or on Lowes.com for curbside, contactless pickup at no additional cost.

"For many of our customers, their pets and their homes top the list of things that matter most, especially after two years spent mostly together within the same four walls," said Bill Boltz, Lowe's executive vice president of merchandising, adding that the partnership provides a “total home solution” where consumers have access to home improvement and pet care products and  services under one roof.

Lowe's + Petco is the latest iteration of hybrid stores in a series of moves across the industry that look to streamline the shopping experience. Ulta’s partnership with Target is merely one example of consolidated shopping that’s taking hold, providing a hub for consumers who are looking for a one-stop experience.

Nick Konat, Petco's chief merchandising officer, said the company’s collaboration with Lowe’s will make it easier to “create healthy, happy homes for pet parents and the pets they love."
