Eataly and Sportsman’s Warehouse Get New CEOs
There were a number of at-the-top leadership shuffles in retail this month, including new CEOs for both Eataly and Sportsman’s Warehouse. Tommaso Brusò is taking on the role of CEO at Eataly while Paul Stone becomes CEO, president, and a member of the board at Sportsman’s Warehouse.
In this newly-created role, Brusò will be tasked with leading the charge in the company’s growth ambitions in the North America region. “Tommaso arrives at an important time for the Group and will be instrumental to the development and growth of a market of primary importance for Eataly,” said Andrea Cipolloni, group CEO Eataly. “His role involves close collaboration with the new senior management who have joined the company in recent months.”
Brusò was most recently group CEO of sustainable essentials clothing brand Colourful Standard (part of RTG Group), but also spent time in C-suite and leadership roles at Benetton Group, Diesel North America, and Fedon.

Living in NYC for many years, I have always been a big fan of this brand, which represents the extraordinary Italian food experience,” said Brusò. “Food together with fashion, are globally recognized as Italian excellences and I believe that my significant experience in the fashion industry will make a strong contribution to taking the Eataly brand to the next level.”
Sportsman’s Warehouse Names New CEO After Extensive Search
The retailer has named Paul Stone CEO after a lengthy search in which candidates both external and internal were thrown into the ring for consideration.
In the end, Sportsman’s Warehouse opted for an external candidate, tapping Stone to take up the role effective November 1, 2023. Most recently, Stone served as CEO at Hertz Global Holdings, where he provided oversight to a network of over 11,000 locations worldwide. During his time at Hertz, Stone’s primary focus was on optimizing operational efficiency and improving customer service. Stone has also served as chief retail officer of Cabela’s Inc.
Stone succeeds Joseph P. Schneider, who has served as interim CEO and president since April 2023. Schneider will stay on to serve as independent chair of the board until the end of 2023 when he will retire from the board and director Rich McBee will succeed as independent chair.
