Books-A-Million is lending a hand for all bored social distancers.

The company has expanded its buy-online-pickup-in-store (BOPIS) service with a curbside option as a response to combat the spread of the new coronavirus. Consumers can purchase books online and a store associate will bring them to their car when they arrive.

Status order will be communicated via email and text messaging.

The service will be available at nearly all of the company’s 200-plus stores in 32 states.

“This new service not only provides an added convenience to our shoppers, but it also helps the community during a time when social distancing has become a necessary measure,” said Scott Kappler, chief marketing officer, in a statement.

“At Books-A-Million we are doing all we can to assure that our stores are a clean and safe environment for both our customers and our associates,” said CEO Terrance Finley. “Reading, sharing stories, supporting our children’s educational needs, playing games and connecting as families has never been more important than it is during these times of challenge and disruption. Serving our communities has and will continue to be our focus.”
