Lifestyle retailer Abercrombie & Fitch Co. has extended their fulfillment capabilities to include pickup options for all its brands in around 12,000 partner locations. Customers can order online, reserve in store or ship from the store for collection at select Walgreens, FedEx and Office Depot stores nationwide.

When a customer places an order, they can choose a location for later collection and can track the delivery online, receiving notification when the package has shipped and arrived at their selected store. Previously, Abercrombie only offered the option for curbside delivery or pickup at their own brand brick and mortar stores. Currently, pickup orders carry a $7 shipping and handling fee – making it approximately the same as regular shipping – and will take around one to five business days to be delivered to the customers’ preferred location.

“We take a lot of pride in meeting our customers where they are and strive to execute a seamless delivery experience. These new alternate pickup points are another great option for anyone seeking convenient, efficient and secure product delivery,” said Larry Grischow, executive vice President, supply chain and procurement at Abercrombie & Fitch Co.

Expanding fulfillment capabilities by partnering with other retailers is an increasingly common practice. Amazon recently launched same-day delivery capabilities from select retail stores in more than 10 cities. The new venture allows Prime members to have their purchases delivered as soon as that same day from PacSun, GNC, SuperDry, and Diesel. This option is available in and around Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, Miami, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Seattle, and Washington D.C, with certain stores also offering the option to buy online and pick up in store, the company said.

This time last year, the e-commerce giant also launched Amazon Local Selling, which give Amazon third-party sellers the ability to provide consumers same-day, in-store pickup at local retailers. At the time, the service was available at Sears Hometown Store, Mavis Discount Tire, Best Buy, Adorama, DataVision, Electronic Vision, Beach Camera, and Appliance Connection.

Looking ahead, more retailers added to the Amazon partner roster will include Sur La Table and 100% Pure. Amazon even launched a four-step guide to partnership opportunities for other retailers looking to join the network.
